Samantha Smith, owner and trainer at Whiskers & Wet Noses, has devoted her life to the love and care of animals.
I was a young girl in an unfortunate situation, at only 6 years old I was violently attacked by a dog and wound up in the hospital with stiches in my head. This never derailed my love of dogs but instead put me on a path to understanding and education. I wanted to know what made dogs tick and behavior intrigued me, thus began my lifelong journey of training and my constant need to grasp as much knowledge as I could.
I studied Animal Science and Behavior at SUNY Cobleskill before completing a full-time apprenticeship in dog training. I worked with service dogs, police K9s, and a plethora of dogs needing extreme behavior modification. After gaining a wealth of experience, having cared for over 300 dogs each day in a busy dog hotel, I realized that I wanted to give my clients and their dogs more personal care and attention.
I love the fact that I get to wake up every day and live my passion. I enjoy helping families live in peace with their dogs. A ton of the dogs I work with are rescues and giving them a second (or third) chance at happiness will always make each day worth it. I look forward to each new dog and their challenges! Teaching families how to build those bonds truly brings me joy. I have been many peoples last resorts, and even their third of fourth trainer they have worked with. I am blessed to keep on learning each day from these dogs and their humans to better comprehend the way their brains work and how I can help bring more pleasant experiences to their families.
I established Whiskers and Wet Noses, in 2015 with that exact vision in mind. I am dedicated to providing the best training services to each dog as an individual. I have assisted hundreds of dogs and humans during my journey, and each becomes a part of my family. I pride myself on giving your best friend the care and training they deserve.
